How Energy Healing Can Improve Your Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Pain with Markus van der Westhuizen

Markus’ professional background:

I facilitate healing through my extensive and in-depth understanding of energy work. I have been a student, practitioner, and teacher of metaphysics and holistic health for 30+ years with a strong focus on personal development, health, healing, and wellbeing.

My clients benefit from my expertise in a range of modalities including Kinesiopractic (Applied/Specialized Kinesiology), Crystal- and Aura healing, and Herbalism. I have a natural skill to pinpoint solutions to seemingly complicated stresses, always remaining grounded and pragmatic, while at the same time empathetic.

My journey started with Crystal Healing training in 1988. I have since added many different modalities to my repertoire: Aura Healing, Herbalism, Holistic Massage, Reiki (Traditional Usui-, Karuna-, Johrei-, Lightarian-, Seichim-), Indian Head Massage, Shiatsu (Namikoshi- and Masunaga-), Light Body Activation, Polarity Therapy, Qi Gong Five Elements Exercises, Tachyon Attunements, Kinesiopractic, Dry Needling, Kinesio-Taping, Pachakuti Mesa Tradition Curanderismo (Andean Shamanism), Bio-Resonance Scanning, Past Life Regression, Energetic DNA Activation, Soul Plan Readings, Soul Transformation Therapy, and DNA Analysis.

And the exploration does not end — I’m currently studying Feng Shui with the aim to specialize in the field of BaZi and Nine Star Ki (Chinese Astrology).

How he got into this field:

As a child I realized that I was different from other kids, able to feel others’ emotions; see auric fields; see entities — ghosts, and other non-physical beings, and I had a gift of deep insight — at times I didn’t know where the wisdom came from. It took many years for me to integrate and master my empath abilities.

At the age of 12, I had my first encounter with alien races in the form of ‘abductions’, these encounters continue to this day. Initially, the ‘abductions’ scared the living daylights out of me, but as I got used to them I realized that these were contracts I made with the alien races and that I was helping them as much as they were helping me.

Around the same time, I also started having vivid memories of lives in Atlantis and Ancient Egypt, and even lives on other planets — with each passing year more lives and experiences were revealed to me.

At the age of 12, I was reading Alice Bailey’s books, and learning about divination and chakras. I was seen as the weirdo at school and my parents thought I had lost the plot, but I never let this stop me from exploring further and deeper into the metaphysical realms.

Some years ago I had a table at a holistic fair, selling my Herbal Tinctures and Crystal Essences. One of my new clients came up to me and excitedly said: “I met one of your other clients!” I asked her “which one?”, hoping that she would give me a name, instead she responded with: “The tall, strong Amazonian girl!” I immediately knew who she was talking about.

What she didn’t know was that when the “tall, strong, Amazonian girl” first came to me for healing she looked timid, shy, scared, and broken. Within a few Crystal Healing sessions we discovered what was holding her back, where she was losing power. With each healing session, I could see the growth and transformation.

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the growth and transformation my clients make within a few healing sessions. Some clients may need more healing sessions than others, but the transformation is still evident and this brings me a lot of satisfaction and joy.

About energy healing:

Energy healing focuses on the etheric-, emotional-, mental- and spiritual bodies. In my experience, all physical ailments and dis-ease start in one or more of the energetic bodies and then, over time, percolates into physicality — e.g. You keep repeating a negative thought pattern, over time it starts to build up an emotional charge which strengthens the negative pattern. When these negative patterns become too dense for the mental and emotional bodies it crystallizes into the physical body, you develop a ‘sudden’ symptom or an ‘unexplained accident’.

I practice a wide range of healing modalities and each has its own protocols and flows. For the example of a typical session I’ll use Aura Healing (in person or remote):

  1. I create sacred space.
  2. I check and balance the polarities of the major and minor chakras, opening all the doors and windows so to speak, to ensure that the healing will flow better and hold for longer.
  3. I check the energies of the major chakras.
  4. I check the horizontal lines (energetic filters in the auric field).
  5. I observe the aura and make notes: What are the colors? What is out of alignment? Where are the energies stagnant? Are there any attachments or entities? Etc.
  6. I cleanse, clear, fix and heal the auric field, and remove anything that’s not supposed to be there.
  7. I observe and note down the changes, I do this throughout the session while I’m working.
  8. I close sacred space.
  9. I deliver the feedback.

How energy healing is beneficial:

I work with all issues — physical-, emotional-, mental- and spiritual-. Everything is connected. In some cases, it is important to find the root cause of the issue, while in other cases it’s not important at all. Having an idea of what the client struggles with gives me an idea of the best approach/s.

“Expect nothing and be ready for anything” is my favorite line I use. I see each client and each session as an exploration.

Most clients come with a specific issue that they want to clear or work on, but in many instances, the issue is something completely different or something that the client was not consciously aware of. By keeping an open mind and seeing how the session unfolds, we are able to get to the deeper, hidden levels and layers of the issue.

What we think, feel, and how the body responds to internal and external forces — It’s all connected.

Healing supports the mental-, emotional-, and spiritual bodies which in turn supports the physical body.

Dis-ease, imbalances, and/or stress in any of the bodies can slow down the healing process. Holding space on the various levels and layers of the person’s being allows for ease, flow, and balance to return to the client’s life.

Energy healing can supplement and support allopathic medicine and surgery. Energy healing can also be used as a preventative measure to ensure that we do not get to the place where we need surgery or medicine. In no way does it replace surgery or medicine when it is needed though.

Pain or discomfort in the physical body is usually a sign that the body is wanting to be heard. Most people are not aware of the language of the body and are not able to read the signs. The energy healing practitioner is usually able to interpret these signs and if caught in time can reverse the potential impact on the physical body.

What energy healing is like as a patient:

I always say: “All healing modalities lead to health, wellness, and wellbeing. It all depends on the route you want to take. Do you want to take the highway or the scenic route? Do you want to take the shortest route or do you want to take a few detours, perhaps seeing things you’ve never seen before?”

The healing journey is a personal one and it is important to remember that it is a journey, not a destination. There may be destinations along the way, but it still remains a journey. Ultimately each individual has to make the choice for themselves. This is a stark contrast to the allopathic/medical world where you are blindly led by the physician and you lose your autonomy and power.

When clients schedule appointments with me, some have a vision or idea of what they want/need and the book accordingly. Other clients have no idea, so we would chat for a bit before the session or at the beginning of the session and see where they are at and what they need and I make recommendations.

If I find that a client is taking a detour because they are avoiding something or running away from something I would point this out in a loving way and remind them that I’m there with them every step of the way.

Each individual is unique and will have a unique experience. Most would have aha moments or see things very differently after the session. Many people report that after healing sessions it’s as though the doors have opened and they experience a flow in their lives where things were stuck or blocked in the past.

Most of my clients say that go somewhere like they’ve been taken out of their bodies, but they don’t know where they went. They may feel tingling sensations, most report that they feel light. Clients who struggle to sleep end up falling asleep during the healing session and when they wake up they say that it’s never happened before during healing sessions. Most say, during or after the session, that they feel like they feel a heavy weight was lifted off them.

Some clients become teary or cry a lot, many saying they have no idea why or what they are crying about.

I’ve even had some clients who would see my guides and even alien beings while I work. When I ask them to describe the alien beings they all give the same descriptions.

I call myself a healthy skeptic. I feel it keeps me open-minded and it allows me to ask questions and see with a clear vision instead of being gullible and accepting blindly what people tell me. So when learning a new healing modality I remain a skeptic until the system proves itself. The healing modalities I offer in my practice are modalities that proved themselves to be effective and to work, there are many modalities I explored that did not prove themselves and as such, I do not offer them in my practice and don’t even list that I studied them.

Personally, I love working with skeptics. My belief is that I have nothing to prove to anyone, including myself. My approach to the work is always pragmatic and I find the best way to explain things to each individual. I don’t judge the person for being a skeptic,

It’s not often that a skeptic comes willingly for energy healing. Usually, it is someone who was referred to me, or the person is at a point where they have ‘tried everything, and energy healing is a desperate last resort.

When working with a skeptic I tend to start off with something like Kinesiopractic. If it is an in-person session the client can feel the muscle lock (strong) or unlock (weak), feeling this in the body the skeptic soon realizes that there is something to the work especially when a client cannot hold a muscle in a position before a correction, but after the correction, they can. The answers come to the surface quickly and there is no making things up.

Markus’ health and wellbeing tips:

Years ago, when I studied Tai Chi and Qi Gong the teacher said: “If you want to carry a lot of spiritual energy you have to have a strong physical body.” Many spiritual seekers are so focused on the spiritual that they forget about the physical. Physical exercise is just as important as spiritual work. Yoga and Tai Chi are great exercise modalities if you don’t want to go to the gym. It doesn’t matter what your fitness level is or your flexibility, just do it! Yoga and Tai Chi also integrate the mind and the heart.

Eat healthily. Eat a lot of fruit and vegetables. Try and find a good balance that will work for you. Perhaps even introduce green juices to your diet.

Go out into nature. Hug a tree, walk on the beach, swim in a river, and go for hikes. Connect and commune with nature.

Focus on your breathing. Get to know your breathing patterns and when your breathing is shallow and when it is deep.

Learn to listen to your body. Our bodies are constantly communicating with us, we just need to learn to listen and translate the messages.

Imagine you’re driving your car and you hear a strange noise coming from the car. Would you stop and see if you can figure out where the noise comes from? Would you go see a mechanic to find out what the issue is? Would you drive slower, hoping the sound goes away? Would you accelerate and hope the sound goes away?

Many people would continue to drive and hope the sound goes away. This may work in some cases, but in other cases, the car could become more damaged and would need more effort, time and money to be repaired.

Don’t wait until it’s too late to seek help.

Many clients come to me after they’ve gone for surgery and after they’ve hurt themselves really badly. If they had gone to see an energy healer when the niggle started the surgery or injury could have been prevented. Having said that, there have been times when I advised clients to see a doctor because of what I perceived in their fields and they avoided expensive interventions because doctors could stop what was happening in the body at a very early stage.

Learn to listen to the language of your body. Follow intuition. Breathe.
