Maybe holistic healing is nothing new to you. You’ve explored other areas of healing but you’re ready to dig deeper. Maybe you’re completely new to starting a healing journey and are looking for a good jumping off point.
Missy Mitchell helps the people she works with by first identifying their journey and where they currently are. She then develops foundational work to build a base so she can then work with them to expand their healing process with deeper work.

Tell me about your professional background.
My professional background actually began in beauty therapy. After I left school, I was totally unsure of what career path I wanted to pursue and always struggled with having a deeper meaning behind my work. I thought beauty therapy was the answer to this so dove into that for five years. It was three years ago that I began starting my work as an intuitive channel and empowerment mentor after implementing the tools that I now teach to change my own life.
What made you want to get into this field?
It was the deep urge to truly help others in a way that felt meaningful and created transformation within lives. I wanted others to feel the incredible shifts that I had felt within my own life through returning to their power. Spirituality and spiritual empowerment was something I found and introduced to my life during a time of deep depression/anxiety, a time I call my ‘magic dark’. After experiencing the changes in my own life, I wanted to share this with others. I found that once I began, not only was I helping, I truly felt lit up from my work for the first time.
What has been your favorite aspect of this work?
Helping people. Receiving messages from clients saying that I was able to help them in such a drastic way makes me emotional every time. To know that you are helping others create deep changes within themselves is the most rewarding feeling in the world.
Meeting and connecting with others through this work has been another favourite aspect. I never felt like I ‘fit in’ anywhere and since entering this space I have made some beautiful soul connections.
Can you explain what self and soul development is and what a typical session with you is like from start to finish?
Self and soul development is a fusion of traditional self development with spiritual practices and teachings. This combination allows us to not only thrive within ‘human’ life e.g. career, relationships etc but it allows us to tap into the deeper meaning of life and connect with our soul. Self development touches the surface, whereas soul development goes deep into the many layers of our being.
When we first begin working together, I will get an idea of where my client is at within their journey. Their practices, previous courses they’ve taken etc. From there we jump into some foundational practices/tools that I get every client to introduce. These act as the base for what we cover during our time together. These practices are things like journaling, meditation, mirror work and EFT tapping. Once we build a strong base, we begin to move through areas like shadow work, inner child healing and developing an empowering relationship with yourself.
What sort of health challenges can this be effective for and why?
While I always recommend seeking a professional health care provider, I, as well as my clients, have seen these practices improve anxiety, depression, skin conditions and asthma. I truly believe that we can find a metaphysical meaning behind physical symptoms and work with that to help us heal. There is both space for traditional medicine and connecting within.
Is there a technique or modality in your practice that you have found to be the most beneficial to the people you work with?
Journaling is incredibly powerful. It acts as an invitation for us to explore our subconscious mind without being held back by our conscious thoughts. Revelations, healing and awareness can all be gained through journaling. It is also a beautiful way to connect with our higher self and spirit guides.

What is self and soul development like from the patient’s point of view?
Self and soul development is an exploration of who you are. It is an insight into your power, self love and ability to create a life you desire.
It is also a process of deep inner work. Recognising where you have wounding (which we all do) and how this plays out in your life. It’s a deeper understanding of your behaviours and spiritual connection to the world. Everything you learn is through your own practices, it is you exploring who you are.
What would you say to someone skeptical about this practice and its effectiveness? How do you approach that?
This practice is not a cure or a solution, it is about you committing to yourself to understand who you are. I do not offer sessions that claim to have all the answers, I simply provide tools and guidance for others to return their own power and understanding.
The spiritual aspect of this practice is not something I try to convince people to believe in, everyone is on their journey within their spiritual practice and I honour that. If someone is asking for help and guidance on how to explore that, I am here. But if they are not open to spirituality, I respect that and their journey.
The effectiveness of these practices is totally based upon the actions of those learning them. Nothing changes if nothing changes. If you do not commit to yourself and be willing to learn, how will you ever grow? These tools and practices are for your growth.
Besides self and soul development do you have any universal health and well-being tips that you’d like to share?
Move and nourish your body, but also remember that you’re human. Find the balance (I know this is an overused word within the health industry but it’s true) and what works for you. We live in a society that focuses on extremes. Bring it back to what feels right for you. This applies to exercise, meditation, socialising, food and relationships, all of which I consider well being. Ask yourself each day, what will make me feel good? Remember to be honest with yourself and what you truly require in that moment.
If there was one piece of advice you could give to someone who is struggling, what would it be?
Begin a meditation practice. Knowing that meditation looks different for everyone. Find something that allows you to focus on the present moment whether that be a meditation practice where you sit/lie down, or walking in nature, dancing, running, deep breathing etc. See what works for you and stick to it. This is such a powerful way to connect with yourself and the present moment. It brings us back to a grounded energy.
