Acupuncture is an alternative method that uses real science to address health issues and provide benefits like pain relief. Not only can acupuncture help with physical pain, but it can also provide relief when used in conjecture to more aggressive forms of treatment like chemotherapy.

More about Breanna and her work:
I am a Registered Acupuncturist, and I studied Traditional Chinese Medicine specifically for three years and graduated with Honors from Georgian College. In addition to being a practitioner, I also teach part-time at Georgian College – a full-circle moment!
I always knew I wanted to work in healthcare – but the conventional, western health medical model did not suit me and the answers I sought. I got into this field because I love to work with people, and adding the element of helping someone feel better, it’s very gratifying. It gives me much joy to see my patients getting better.
You get to be a part of hundreds of people’s lives, hear about their day, and learn about their families – every day is different. I love that it’s never the same.
Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine and a component of traditional Chinese medicine in which thin needles are inserted into the body. Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body. A key component of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain. Increasingly, it is being used for overall wellness, including stress management.
Acupuncture can be beneficial for SO many things. Really – there’s nothing we can’t treat other than broken bones, infections, or cancer, though our medicine can be very complimentary for all of the above. For example, I can’t cure cancer – but I can provide help with chemo pain, fatigue, nausea from chemo, hair loss, etc.
Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine look at the body as a whole – and work by bringing the body back into balance (homeostasis). It is an all-encompassing form of healthcare that can treat a vast variety of health conditions (excluding cancer, broken bones, and infections)
What it’s like for the patient:
An Acupuncture session from the patient’s point of view is 100% zen and relaxation. The 45-minute session includes a sound machine sound bath, a heated table, and a dimly lit room for the ultimate experience!
My approach [to skeptics] is simple, just try it! Nothing speaks better to the effectiveness of acupuncture than a first-hand experience.
Breanna’s wellness tips:
Eat for the seasons!! I can’t stress this enough. Eating foods to help nourish your body and organs as the seasons change is so significant and can benefit you greatly with sleep, energy, and overall well-being. I stress this daily to patients (especially throughout the cold seasons); a significant portion is having them understand why!
Reach out for help – whatever the issue is. Hundreds of medically trained professionals around us work to help people who are struggling physically, mentally, or emotionally. Seeking help is the first step to changing your situation. Sure, it’s scary, and you may not know how to reach out or when to reach out. Just. Do. It!
